This chair was my first design and creation of my kerfed and curved plywood type.
I started with quarter inch thick furniture grade plywood. The thicker sections have four layers while the thinner have two. I created cuts into one side of the plywood (called kerfs). These cuts are perpendicular to the curvature and closer together the tighter the curve.
The only power tools used in making this chair were a handheld circular and jig saw. The rest of the design and assembly were done by hand. Subsequent pieces of this type will be made using CAD/CAM software and a CNC router.
